WHAT MAGNESIUM ACTUALLY DOES

One mineral. Every system it touches

Magnesium is a cofactor in over 300 enzyme reactions. Here's what that means for each part of the body it reaches.

MAGNESIUM & SLEEP
😴

Sleep & Nervous System

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system. It's a cofactor in the pathway that governs how a nervous system settles down at the end of the day — the mechanism behind falling asleep and staying asleep.
MAGNESIUM & MUSCLE
💪

Muscle

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function. It governs the release side of the contract-relax cycle —
which is why deficiency shows up as tension you can feel, in the jaw or the calves, not just tiredness you can name.
MAGNESIUM & IMMUNE
🛡️

Immune

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
MAGNESIUM & ENERGY

Energy & Metabolism

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue — the biochemical baseline everything else in the day runs on.
MAGNESIUM & MOOD
🧠

Mood

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function. Deficiency tends to show up first as a short fuse and a mind that won't settle.
MAGNESIUM & BONES
🦴

Bones & Teeth

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth — a slower, structural role, alongside its evening one.
MAGNESIUM & ELECTROLYTES
💧

Electrolytes

Selected body system

Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance — the same system that governs hydration and, alongside sodium and potassium, muscle and nerve signaling.
MAGNESIUM & CELLS
🧬

Cell Division

Selected body system

Magnesium is involved in the process of cell division — one of the more fundamental roles it plays, even though it's the least visible day to day.

How to Take

Timing. Evening, 30–60 minutes before bed. Magnesium supports the body's natural wind-down, so evening is both the convention in the research and the most practical time. Taking it earlier isn't a problem — magnesium works cumulatively.

Dose & ramp. Our serving is 3 capsules (275 mg elemental magnesium). For the first few nights, start with half a serving to let your body adjust, then build to the full serving over about a week.

Getting the most from it. The body takes in only so much magnesium at once, so a steady daily amount does more than an occasional large one. Take with food if your stomach is sensitive, and space it a few hours from calcium, zinc, or certain medications (see the interactions guide above).

HOW TO USE IT — AND HOW TO TELL IT'S WORKING

Begin gently. Then watch for the signs.

Take it in the evening, 30–60 minutes before bed. Start with half a serving and let your body adjust. Some signs may appear within days, while the deeper benefits build with consistency.

NIGHTS 1–3

The first signs of unwinding.

Start with half a serving. Your evenings may begin to feel calmer as your body settles into the routine.

WEEK 1

Sleep starts to feel different.

Falling asleep may feel easier, mornings less foggy, and your evenings more settled. If well tolerated, move toward a full serving.

WEEKS 2–3

Calm becomes your new baseline.

With consistent use, magnesium supports a steadier response to everyday stress, relaxation, and healthy nervous system function.

WEEKS ONWARDS

The benefits build with consistency.

Keep the ritual going to support restful sleep, stress resilience, muscle function, and recovery - night after night.

*Individual results may vary. Consistent daily use is recommended.

Don't just take our word for it

"I'd tried three other magnesiums and felt nothing. Two weeks on this and I'm actually sleeping through the night. I don't even reach for anything else now."

Claire M.Verified Buyer

"As someone who reads every supplement label, this is the first one I couldn't pick apart. Two ingredients, elemental dose printed, lab report right there. The evening spirals ease up — I feel calmer in myself."

Nadia R.Verified Buyer

"Other forms never sat well with me. This one I actually tolerate — calmer evenings, no bloating, no drama."

Michael L.Verified Buyer

"No hype, no 20-ingredient cocktail. Just magnesium and zinc, done properly. I start half a dose, build up over the week like the planner says, and I feel steadier under a heavy day."

A habit that feels like a treat

The first week has been wonderfully easy. I like that it feels like a small luxury rather than another obligation.

A QUICK GUIDE TO MAGNESIUM INTERACTIONS.

What works with it, and what gets in the way

What doesn't mix well

Tetracyclines (doxycycline)

Magnesium binds the antibiotic, reducing its absorption by 50-90%. Space by 2-4 hours.

SPACE BY 2-4 HOURS

Fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin)

Same binding mechanism. Space by 2-4 hours.

SPACE BY 2-4 HOURS

Bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Actonel)

Magnesium reduces absorption of this osteoporosis medication. Space by at least 2 hours.

AT LEAST 2 HOURS

Levothyroxine (Synthroid)

Magnesium reduces absorption of thyroid hormone. Space by 4 hours, recheck TSH after 6–8 weeks.

SPACE BY 4 HOURS

Gabapentin

Absorption drops when taken together. Space by 2 hours.

SPACE BY 2 HOURS

Proton pump inhibitors (long-term)

Lower magnesium levels in the body. Discuss with your doctor if you've taken these for over a year.

Diuretics

Some increase magnesium loss through urine. Discuss with your doctor.

Calcium channel blockers

May enhance the effect on blood pressure. Monitor your blood pressure.

High-dose calcium or zinc, taken separately

Compete with magnesium for absorption in the gut.

What works with it

Vitamin D

Improves magnesium absorption — and magnesium is needed to activate vitamin D in return. Works both ways.

B6

Vitamin B6

Enhances cellular uptake of magnesium.

Taken with food

Gentler on the stomach, slightly slows absorption — a plus for sensitive digestion.

Glycine

The amino acid already bound to this form of magnesium — improves absorption on its own.

CONSIDERED QUESTIONS

Answered plainly

Sleep, stress and recovery, primarily. Magnesium supports the nervous system that governs how you wind down and how you handle a demanding day; deficiency shows up first as poor sleep and a short fuse. Glycinate is the form gentle enough to take every evening.

Chelamax® is fully chelated — each magnesium ion bound to two glycine molecules — and verified batch by batch. Much of what's sold as "glycinate" is buffered: blended with magnesium oxide to cut cost. In a simulated digestion model, Chelamax® absorbed at 64%; oxide reached 4%.

Citrate absorbs reasonably well but draws water into the gut, which is why it's often sold for regularity and why it can send you running at higher doses. Glycinate is absorbed as a chelated molecule, without that effect — the form built for taking daily, in the evening, for sleep.

Our serving is 275 mg of elemental magnesium across three capsules, taken in the evening. Start with half a serving for the first few nights and build up over a week. The elemental figure — the magnesium itself, not the compound weight — is what's printed on our label and verified in the COA.

In the evening, 30–60 minutes before bed, most nights. Consistency matters more than a higher dose.

It's the form most often tolerated by sensitive stomachs, including many people with IBS. The bloating and laxative effect people associate with magnesium usually trace back to oxide or citrate. If you've reacted before, the ramp-up protocol exists precisely for you.

Sleep tends to settle first, usually within the first two weeks. A steadier baseline follows over weeks two and three. Magnesium restores; it doesn't sedate — the timeline reflects that.
